Carrie's humiliation after she gets her period is a perfect example of "Show, don't tell", it's not like King said "She had her period, freaked out, everyone made fun of her, and filled her locker with tampons", he went through her humiliation with a lot of detail. Putting "Show, don't tell" to good use is a brilliant way to develop a character, since their development will be at the readers interpretation, which you can tear to bits whenever you like.

I remember learning this in High-School, but I guess I had completely forgotten about it until now. After reading this I quickly went over the few small story's that I've written over the months and realized quite a few things that I was missing in them that you've stated here would make it easier for Readers to follow along with what's happening.
I haven't read Carrie, yet at least, but I could easily follow the examples explaining each part like I knew the story, which helped me understand each section a little better.
