In The Heat Of The Night
Aug 3rd, 2008 | By Mike | Category: Pot PourriIn The Heat Of The Night is simply a short story about last summer when my old air conditioning unit finally gave up the ghost and quit on me. Right in the middle of our worst heatwave of the season.
I can tell you that air conditioning is something that most of us do not think much about as long as it is working. But when the temperature is soaring with no end in sight I can promise you that your heat pump will be the foremost thing on your mind.
Now why the link to Aircon247? It can be a starting point when you begin the task of researching what type of unit your going to need and what you might expect to pay. A lot of us do not realize there is much more to getting the correct unit for your home than simply picking out a brand name or a particular size.
Here is one example. The first Heat and Air repair company that I had out to look at my home and give me an estimate said that I needed a 2 ton unit. Now at this point I did not know anything about heat pumps, air conditioners or btu’s. All I knew was that the unit I already had was a 2 1/2 ton and I figured I would need at least that size, maybe larger.
Sure enough it turned out that this company was small and a 2 ton was what they had in stock and so this was why I was recommended this unit. Had I not done any research I would have assumed this guy knew what he was talking about and purchased a unit much to small for my home.
It turned out that not only was my 2 1/2 ton unit old and worn out but was also to small for my home. I needed a 3 ton unit to effectively heat and cool my home while also keeping my electric bills under control.
Yes the 3 ton unit was more expensive up front but the energy savings is amazing and the unit does not show any signs of strain even on the hottest of these summer days. So remember part of purchasing any major product is to do the research first!
