Authors Guide To Getting Published
Jul 31st, 2008 | By Mike | Category: Writers ToolsWhen I first decided that I was going to write it was not as easy of a choice as one might think but I knew that was what I wanted to do. However, that was about all I did know. I did not know how to write for an audience nor did I have a clue about how I would go about getting published. And like many beginning authors I rushed through writing my manuscript and submitted it to some place I had found in a book that accepted works from unpublished authors.
In about 30 days I got my first rejection! It was great! Sure I hated getting rejected on my first attempt but guess who the rejection letter was addressed to ? Author! Yup it said, “Dear Author”. That was it. I had officially been called an author! Sure at this point I was still a rejected author but an author never-the-less.
My next step was to do some research on just what authors did in order to get published. My favorite place to do research on the writing or publishing process is this really cool site called VideoJug.
To be sure VideoJug covers much more than just writing related material and I have found a lot of interesting video on various topics which will be good for brainstorming future writings but for the author just getting started VideoJug is a haven of information. You will find everything from the basics of writing to contacting and getting accepted by a publisher.
The VideoJug site is designed to be user-friendly with many different categories listed across the top menu bar. And if you do not see a specific topic listed a simple search will take you to the correct page. In other words you do not have to scroll through hundreds of articles you have no interest in to find what you want.
I would recommend VideoJug to everyone needing information about a specific topic but would venture to say that writers will find this site a writing tool to be used time and again.
