The author writes of Judaism and Christianity: 'Both are monotheistic
religions that share the first five books of the Christian Old
Testament.' I believe this to be a statement which is somewhat economical in the area of precision.

The Churches representing the overwhelming majority of Christians expect their members to believe in more or less exactly the same Old Testament as
the Jews, in its entirety - and not just the first five books!

Some simple examplex demonstrates this. The first five books consist of
Genesis, Exodus, Leviticus, Numbers, and Deuteronomy. However in a
church you will often find a book of psalms – and indeed you have
almost certainly sung some of them at one time or another. These
psalms come from the Book of Psalms (or just ‘Psalms’) in the Old
Testament, a book which is not found in the first five books. In addition all those wonderful stories such as Samson and Deliliah, David and Goliath and many others are excluded from Christian canon if only the first five books are included.
